Valentine’s Day Decorations So Easy the Kids Can Help.

You bought the perfect present — or your fabulous self made a fantastic diy Valentine’s Day gift — now all it needs is a bow on top. Here’s a great option: heart-shaped paper flowers. Plus, it’s so simple that the kids can help make them.

All you’ll need is cute paper with a Valentine’s Day theme like the sweet little hearts in this example, scissors and a hot-glue gun.

Cut out a heart shape about 2.5 inches high and use it as a guide to cut out more. Figure 10 to 12 heart “petals” per flower bow. Cut them in different directions to vary the pattern, if you like.

Cut a small circle, about an 1.5 inches in diameter, for the base of the flower. It doesn’t have to be perfect; no one will see it. Fold the heart-shaped petals at the points. This will make them stand out a bit. Glue five petals to the circle base, overlapping slightly. Continue to glue more petals in another layer until you get the look you want.

Cut a long strip of white paper, or any coordinating color you choose, and snip it along the length part way to create a fringe. Roll it up tightly and glue to the center of your paper flower.
